| APS/21 Dec 2012 Dear parent, PROMOTION POLICY – CLASS XI 1. Reference to the guidelines under CBSE Promotion policy: 2. In order to be DECLARED PASS, a student must secure 33 % marks ineach of the subject studied by him /her. b) He/She secures 33 % marks separately in theory and practical portion c) The promotion is also subject to the condition that a minimum of 25%marks should be secured in the Comprehensive test i.e. annual Note: While calculating 25 % or 33 % the benefit of fraction will go the credit ofthe student 3. Compartmental Examination A student who has appeared in comprehensive exam but is not eligible forpromotion to next class is eligible for appearing in the compartmentalexamination provided: a) He/She has secured atleast 20 % marks in 1 failing subject i.e. (20or more out of 100) OR Incase the Candidate gets atleast 15 % of marks in one failing subject(i.e. cases where marks are >=15 but <20) and 40 % marks in aggregate inthe remaining subjects, he/she is also eligible for appearing incompartmental examination b) For practical subjects, the rule is generally interpreted as follows (as per CBSE norms) – (i) If a student has failed in theory, compartment is given in theoryonly (ii) If a student has failed in practical, he/she has to appear both intheory and practical 4.
